Beautiful Oils

Oils are the talk of the town.
Here's the quick guide to the two types of oils.

Essential Oils

Essential Oils are plant based, and light and non-greasy.  We use these oils for fragrances and aromatherapy.  In addition to their scent, they have soothing and anti-inflammatory capabilities.  Examples are rose geranium, blue tansy, lavender, and eucalyptus.

Through the process of photosynthesis, plants manufacture the molecules that make up these extraordinary substances to help them reproduce and protect themselves.  It takes several pounds of plant materials to be able to yield small amounts of these oils.  Essential Oils have been at the center of the fragrance industry for centuries, and up until the early 20th century were mostly exclusively used only for perfume.

Fixed Oils

Fixed Oils are seed and nut based, and are rich and thick. We need fixed oils because they provide essential fatty acids that our bodies do not produce and help maintain our good health.  Fixed oils feed our skin with omegas and lipids that help with dryness, wounds, and skin cell regeneration.

These oils are cold pressed from the nut and seeds of plant-based materials, and are not extracted for their aromatic constituents.

Please note:

All skin care ingredients in the market place, whether mass marketed and fully loaded with synthetics or natural/organic/clean products are based and inspired by what these vegetable oils do for our skin.  The mass marketed synthetics, replicate these actions of the oils in laboratory created synthetics modeled after nature, and clean oils use the whole nut and seed oil in its entirety.
