1. THE 'EUPHORIA' EYE EFFECT
The Trend:
The eyes still have it… and not a surprise with mask-wearing continuing. Without a doubt, it’s the long lasting ‘Euphoria’ effect - whether you’ve seen the amazing work of the creative and talented makeup artists on the show or not, you’ve seen makeup wearers everywhere emulating the vibe. Multi stacked stripes of colorful eyeliner, stark, graphic black and white liquid lines in various shapes around the eyes- whatever you can dream up, you can and should wear. How To:
Using the wet-brush technique (dipping a fine, angled brush - Jenny Patinkin works well) into a drop of water and then into a favorite bright and bold eyeshadow (check out Johnny Concert fun pops of color), stamp it into a line or a squiggle around your lash line or into your crease if you have one. PYT creamy gold Glam Glitter Gel looks great when made into a line of tiny dots along the upper lash line. Rituel De Fille The Black Orb Enigmatic Eyeliner and Ilia Clean Line Liquid Liner are favorites for creating dark black structures, whether your vibe is Amy Winehouse thick or whisper thin.
2. BYE BYE GLASS SKIN, HELLO NATURALLY GLOWING COMPLEXION
The Trend:Powder highlighters that create the unicorn brick highlight, and makeup-created glass-looking skin is beginning to give way to a more natural looking complexion. ‘Imperfections’ are becoming the norm as people venture out of the house (and show themselves in social media) wearing fewer ‘skin perfecting’ makeup products.
How To:
Work on skincare basics, using products like Marie Veronique Gentle Retinol Night Serum and Intensive Repair Serum to refine skin texture and treat existing blemishes, while keeping others at bay is a must. Experimenting with clay masks that draw out impurities like Kypris Deep Forest Clay will help keep pores as tight as possible, giving skin a more smooth, even appearance. Daily (twice daily for most) application of hydration - whether you’re into oils, lotions, creams or gel moisturizing is key to gorgeous glowing skin, and products like Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Universal Face Oil, Tata Harper Water-Lock Moisturizer, and Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream with SPF 30 are customer favorites. Lightweight skin tints like Kosas Tinted Face Oil, Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40, and Suntegrity 5-in-1 Tinted Moisturizing Face Sunscreen allow skin to show while the light-on-the-pigment-particles offer a minimal blurring effect.
3. AT-HOME SPA TREATMENTS AND MULTI MASKING
The Trend:Skincare and at-home spa treatments continue with quite a lot of before bed, and in the morning masking. Layering masks is a thing as consumers dive deep into ingredients and how they work in unison, i.e. an exfoliating mask layered under a hydrating mask. How To:
Take Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser massaged onto dry skin and apply a thick layer of her resurfacing mask. Leave that on for at least minutes, and then massage gently with warm water to remove. If you’re more sensitive, substitute her refreshing cleanser for the regenerating.
Spot-treat blemishes and blackheads using a clay mask like Kinship Mint Mud Deep Pore Detox and then slather on Josh Rosebrook Advanced Hydration Mask or Le Masque Hydration from African Botanics to ensure all skin gets the quench it needs.
If you’re hair masking or face masking, lip masking at the same time is a no-brainer. Massage in Ilia Lip Wrap Hydrating Mask or Beneath Your Mask Remedy Conditioning Lip Balm onto your lips and give them the spa treatment while you’re at it.
