Blush 101

Posted on May 06 2015

A quick dab of blush will instantly brighten your skin. The main goal in choosing a blush is to obtain a natural flush for a fresh face. We took the guess work out of finding makeup that is safe and effective so all you have to do is choose which Credo Blush is for you!

It’s not just the color you have to choose but also the type of formula.

The first step in selecting which blush is best for you is based on skin type. Cream blush is fantastic for normal to dry skin and delivers rich color. If you’re prone to breakouts or have normal to oily skin, powder blushes are the way to go. The type of foundation you wear can also be a factor—cream blush works well with liquid or cream foundations while powder blush works well with powder foundations. Of course you can wear blush sans foundation and you can also layer a powder over a cream.

These are some of our favorites in a variety of formulas—stick, cream compact, loose and pressed powders:

Vapour Aura Multi Use Blush Stick comes in a range of universally-flattering colors that nourish the skin with soothing frankincense, antioxidant tulsi, and calming lotus. For the smoothest application, begin by warming Aura in a circular motion on the back of your hand. This product is activated by the warmth of your skin. Apply directly from stick applicator and blend.

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush is a richly pigmented certified organic formula that blends beautifully using a brush or fingertips. Housed in a stunning chrome refillable compact, this creamy blush is a blend of nourishing beeswax, moisturizing jojoba and castor seed oil, rosa rubiginosa seed oil for tissue regeneration properties (to fight the signs of aging), and the antioxidant gardenia florida fruit extract.

W3ll Purist Mineral Blush is a USDA organic loose powder formula that includes aloe, titanium dioxide, chamomile, and green tea. The pure pigments in this cheek color should be applied with a brush. Dip the brush to collect some powder then swirl in the cap to work it evenly into the brush. Start with a small amount on the apple of the cheek and build up the color to desired effect.

Lily Lolo Pressed Powder is a 100% natural silky formula pressed into a compact. Mica, jojoba, argan, pomegranate and titanium dioxide provide a healthy option for your skin and highly pigmented color. It’s perfect for adding a sheer natural flush or a bright pop of color depending on how much you apply. A blush brush is recommended for application.

Antonym Baked Blush uses an innovative baking process to transform a blush cream into a finely textured powder. The cream is then baked in terracotta pans in a process that naturally binds it into a domed shade. Swirls of color are added to each individual blush before baking, giving every blush its own totally unique color imprint. The baked powder, which retains some of its cream-based properties, is light and ultra-smooth when applied to the skin.
