There can be lots of confusion in the way products are labelled. Let this be a label lesson to us all–to always ask the question. One of the most common of these questions is to clear up the difference between something being vegan or cruelty free.
Vegan products do not use animal-derived ingredients or animal byproducts (like honey, beeswax, or collagen), while cruelty-free products avoid animal testing. Some brands are both, but it's important to check each label to ensure a product meets your ethical standards.
At Credo Beauty, all the products we carry are cruelty free, but not all are vegan. Our restricted substances list prohibits many animal-derived ingredients, but we do allow beeswax and a few others. Click here to see which animal ingredients we do allow.
