What is an undertone?

An undertone is the color beneath the surface of your skin, which never changes (even with a tan). There are three types of undertones:

Pink/Cool

I see red or pink undertones around the perimeter of my face and neck.
My skin burns easily, but barely tans.
My skin looks better in silver jewelry than gold.

Neutral

I see both pink and yellow undertones around the perimeter of my face and neck.
My skin sometimes burns and sometimes tans.
My skin looks good in both gold and silver jewelry.

Yellow/Warm

I see yellow or golden undertones around the perimeter of my face and neck.
My skin rarely burns, but tans easily.
My skin looks better in gold jewelry than silver.

Usage

Apply sparingly with brush or fingers over elevated areas of the face such as cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose, inner corners of eyes, and on the cupid′s bow for a natural luminous glow. Add life to eyes by subtly applying onto the center of eyelids, just above the lashes.

"I really wanted to love this Luminizer in Crystal Slipper but it just doesn’t do much luminizing. I have the Living Luminizer shade as well and it gives such an impactful glow in comparison. This Crystal Slipper shade does nothing really. I gave two stars because I like the skin feel but other than that it really does not do anything for me. It is only one of maybe three products out of the probably two dozen RMS products that were not worth buying."

"I'm trying to find a replacement for the discontinued Glossier highlighter, and had hopes for this one. Unfortunately this highlighter is way too subtle, and wears off quickly. It also doesn't layer so well to try to get a more dramatic effect. Will not be repurchasing."

"I like the look of the highlighter but not the application. It is almost a paste, so you cannot use a brush and need to use your fingertips and then dab it into your skin. Makes it a little difficult if you are using multiple products like bronzer or blush in the same areas."
