An undertone is the color beneath the surface of your skin, which never changes (even with a tan). There are three types of undertones:

Pink/Cool

I see red or pink undertones around the perimeter of my face and neck.
My skin burns easily, but barely tans.
My skin looks better in silver jewelry than gold.

Neutral

I see both pink and yellow undertones around the perimeter of my face and neck.
My skin sometimes burns and sometimes tans.

Shake Well Before Each Use. Apply 2 pumps liberally to dry face, neck and chest. Re-apply every two hours or after being in water.

Great for Perioral Dermatitis

"I've been struggling to find any sunscreen that doesn't make my perioral dermatitis break out as well as one that isn't sticky. This checks both boxes as it has been great on my skin and is smooth. Yes, it is very oily - one half or two thirds of a pump is all I need - use sparingly and you'll have a beautiful glow all day. I have very dry skin and this feels so nice and stays. My trick to keep makeup in place with this oil is to use my normal anti-wrinkle cream, then this SPF, then RMS primer, a light foundation (RMS concealer, which goes on so smooth with this), then powder before doing my eye and cheek and everything stays put just fine with no pilling. Every SPF has killed my chin until this one and I'm hoping that doesn't change."

Sea Kale Sunscreen

"I usually use a tinted sunscreen daily but for days when I use a tinted balm without added SPF, I've been using the Sea Kale sunscreen underneath. It's light and liquid but blends to an oily finish which I end up having to blot several times a day. Love Mara products but will pass on this one in the future. Leaves me looking too greasy."

Please reformulate

"I love the ingredients of this spf. However, I cannot use this because it has the consistency of olive oil. There’s no way I could apply makeup on top of this let alone go out looking like a greased cookie sheet. I love all the other products from this brand but this is a big no."

Still Waiting for the One

"I don't know why nontoxic mineral sunscreens are still constant misses, but alas, this one is not different. For starters, I am extremely pale and prefer SPF 50 as my minimum. Each time I drop to SPF 30 (and reapply), I get burned. So that's the first flaw. The second is how unbelievably greasy this stuff is. I love the hydrating element of MARA products and their oils, but sunscreens are already a con because of their greasy residue. This one doubles that flaw because it's an oil. And despite applying setting powder (which I only started using because of this product), it still makes all of my makeup (including my eyeliner) smear, smudge, and fade. I do love the bottle and scent, but definitely won't be repurchasing. I switched back to my old sunscreen and use this as a body/hand sunscreen when I'm driving or working out outside."

Worst sunscreen

"This has got to be the worst mineral sunscreen I’ve tried in recently history. It feels incredibly greasy, and sits on top of the skin never fully absorbing. Putting makeup over it creates a slop of product and this is coming from someone who has very dry skin. I will agree that there is hardly any white cast but the formulation is not elegant. It just feels gross and greasy."

"I like the ease of having a nice and light sunscreen to put on. It does leave my face a bit white so I blend it with another cream to prevent that. It doesn’t leave my skin greasy at all either."

Not What Expected

"I love the other Mara products but this one is a no go. It’s very oily. Leaves your face with a white cast. The product separates despiste shaking the bottle to mix well. The sunscreen sits on the face and doesn’t absorb. The smell is also strong. Also, it’s not reef safe. Will not repurchase."
