An undertone is the color beneath the surface of your skin, which never changes (even with a tan). There are three types of undertones:
Pink/Cool
I see red or pink undertones around the perimeter of my face and neck.

Neutral

My skin sometimes burns and sometimes tans.

My skin rarely burns, but tans easily.

Usage
To define curls, evenly apply to wet hair in sections using a raking motion. Air dry or diffuse. For volume, apply evenly on damp hair then blow dry in sections.
