What is an undertone?

An undertone is the color beneath the surface of your skin, which never changes (even with a tan). There are three types of undertones:

Pink/Cool

I see red or pink undertones around the perimeter of my face and neck.
My skin burns easily, but barely tans.
My skin looks better in silver jewelry than gold.

Neutral

I see both pink and yellow undertones around the perimeter of my face and neck.
My skin sometimes burns and sometimes tans.
My skin looks good in both gold and silver jewelry.

Yellow/Warm

I see yellow or golden undertones around the perimeter of my face and neck.
My skin rarely burns, but tans easily.
My skin looks better in gold jewelry than silver.

Careful with the sharpening…

"Full disclosure: I haven’t used an old-school eye pencil in awhile (got soft with the automatic liners:). The colors are great, thought I do need more than a few swipes to get full coverage. Be careful when sharpening. Even after wiping the pencil down and blowing off the sharpener dust, my eye was still a bit irritated by a fresh point. These may become a once-in-awhile pencil since the ilia automatic liner seems to be a better fit for me. That said, the plum color is lovely!"

"I have been so impressed with other RMS products that I was looking forward to using this eye pencil. Unfortunately, it's so hard that I had to drag it across my eyes, and after several attempts. Nothing. Nope. Nada. Nothing. I tried it on the back of my hand, it's a nice plum shade, but I'm not subjecting my sensitive eyes to dragging a pencil back and forth to get a smidgen of color."

Great. Stay put, beautiful colors

"These are the best liners in my opinion. I use all three colors and love them. Bronze brown is such a beautiful color. And, I use the plum color to fill my eyebrow as well. My original hair color is black, but the plum blends in perfectly my complexion and thinning brows. Black and brown poweders were too harsh on my brows, taupe was too faint."

Great Color, Sharpens Down Quickly

"Plum Definition gets 5 stars for the color—a beautiful, deep purple—and 3 stars for how quickly the product gets used up when sharpening. Perhaps I’ve been spoiled by automatic liners, but this pencil is slated to last a couple of weeks based on my first sharpen. A good pencil for special events, at least!"

"While I am new to the RMS brand, I am not new to eyeliner (hello, 80s baby!). The RMS colors are nice, especially the plum, but the pencils do sharpen down quickly. These will be special event liners, and I will continue the search for the perfect long-wearing, long-lasting liner."

What An Eye Opener!

"This eye pencil has a good texture and finish. I'm not a cat eye or wing person so if I ever try to do so my black eye liner may just do the job. My eyes tend to get watery due to allergies so I need to be careful how I apply my eye makeup. Perhaps I ought to consult one of the makeup artists to teach me how to apply my eye makeup waterproof style."

Good but not great

"I purchased the straight line kohl pencil in Plum definition . Unfortunately,it seems dry and drags along my upper eyelid when applying, as compared to your Bronze Definition liner. (for reference, I purchased both at the same time. ) The plum definition does smudge nicely along the lower lash line. as always, the order arrived promptly"
