What is an undertone?

An undertone is the color beneath the surface of your skin, which never changes (even with a tan). There are three types of undertones:

Pink/Cool

I see red or pink undertones around the perimeter of my face and neck.
My skin burns easily, but barely tans.
My skin looks better in silver jewelry than gold.

Neutral

I see both pink and yellow undertones around the perimeter of my face and neck.
My skin sometimes burns and sometimes tans.
My skin looks good in both gold and silver jewelry.

Yellow/Warm

I see yellow or golden undertones around the perimeter of my face and neck.
My skin rarely burns, but tans easily.
My skin looks better in gold jewelry than silver.

Usage

Apply foam directly to your skin and spread evenly to all desired areas.
Thoroughly wash hands after application.
Use a dry washcloth to buff tan on your wrists, creating a natural transition.
You do not need to wash the tanning foam off, but for more subtle results, shower 30–60 minutes after application.
Tan will continue to develop for up to 24 hours.
Best if used within 6 months.

Pro-tip

Apply moisturizer first to dry areas like elbows, knees, ankles, wrists, and hands before tanning. This creates a subtle barrier so the foam blends more evenly and prevents those areas from developing too dark.

Very natural looking Tan. Best I've tried

"So I've been trying different drug store to professional spray tans, and I will say the Medium Dark is actually pretty natural for a "Med-Dark" tan. . . IYKYK. I tested in 2 ways: first I washed off after 30 mins, and it continues to tan but it looked like a natural skin tone bronze, then I tried wearing it overnight, it doesn't smell too strongly, and my white sheets were fine. It gave me a true sun tan look. It does lean warmer, so for those who are already golden undertones, I wouldn't recommend because you may turn out a little more golden/yellow, but I am a neutral undertone, and it really looks like a very nicely bronzed tan that isn't too olive or red or warm."

"Easy to use and pretty even tan without buffing first. Careful on the back of your hands because that’s where I seem to end up with a darker splotch regardless of how even everything else is! Does have that fake tan bronzer smell but only for the first day or so."

Obsessed is an understatement!

"I wasn't much of a self tan girl until I tried Saltyface, but it totally converted me! I love the foam as it's so easy to apply, especially paired with Brush No. 2. It gives you SUCH a natural glow without looking orange or streaky, something I've struggled with when using other self tanners. I feel good about using it too since I know all of the ingredients are clean. I highly recommend for anyone looking to get into the self tan game - I will definitely be repurchasing!"

Nice dark tan

"Its such a perfect colour. The only thing I would say is because I'm used to the lighter one. . when I went darker. I screwed up on applying it. It looked ridiculous because I had white patches and dark patches, but that was my own fault. Lol. Just make sure you take the time and you're not rushed and really go over every single spot because I couldn't wear shorts this week. I tried to blend it in, but I have already done the damage lol. I love the colour and it's perfect. Just make sure you really concentrate. ."

"As a very fair person I was worried about using a tanning foam that would turn me too orange (and my sheets). This one is awesome! It’s subtle and easy to use. Wow! It was so easy!

"I’m in my 50s, I’ve never used any self-tanning products. My skin is quite pale, I didn’t want to look very tan, but wanted a nice bit of color. I tried the light-medium, used my hands to apply. So easy to use!

"I don’t use self tanner that often, so when I do I need it to be dummy proof. This product is fantastic, especially when used with the brush. Goes on evenly, no streaks, no weird orange colour. And it goes on clear (sounds like it would be harder without guide colour but it really isn’t), has no smell, and doesn’t stain anything. I use this for my body and the tanning water for my face and am so happy with the results every time."
