What is an undertone?

An undertone is the color beneath the surface of your skin, which never changes (even with a tan). There are three types of undertones:

Pink/Cool

I see red or pink undertones around the perimeter of my face and neck.
My skin burns easily, but barely tans.
My skin looks better in silver jewelry than gold.

Neutral

I see both pink and yellow undertones around the perimeter of my face and neck.
My skin sometimes burns and sometimes tans.
My skin looks good in both gold and silver jewelry.

Yellow/Warm

I see yellow or golden undertones around the perimeter of my face and neck.
My skin rarely burns, but tans easily.
My skin looks better in gold jewelry than silver.

"Great concept, but overall the mascaras were meh, at best. The ONLY plus, I will never feel compelled to purchase the regular size of any of these mascaras. If you were attempting to use these for travel or a special occasion, I would take a hard pass. Without pause, every single one of these mascaras flaked and produced raccoon eyes. A few of the mascaras were dried out."

"This was a good way to help my mom find a mascara brush shape that worked more easily for her but they are all black and I would’ve really liked some variation in shade since Brown is more appropriate for her and lots of women in terms of a more natural look."

Awesome variety!

"I love sets like this. I never know if something is going to work for me and buying full size products is like gambling. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. And with something like natural mascara, it really needs to be tested. Love all of these brands and I wanted to see which one would work best for me. My goal is fuller looking lashes with no cakey flakes or black staining undereye after a few hours. Another thing I like to try is the brush type. Sometimes it's just too big. I'm trying these one by one so it may be a while before I get through the box but Kosas is very good so far. It's staying put and the brush is easy to use. I will never go back to PFA-laden mascara."

Great Set

"I like to purchase mini sets like this from beauty retailers. It allows me to try new products that I am curious about without the environmental waste of using so many full sizes or spending the money for full sizes that I may not like. The minis are also fabulous if -- like me -- you have super sensitive eyes and need to swap your mascara on a monthly basis. I haven't worked through all of these yet, but so far, I fount one I enjoy! I took off one star because some other retailers that do mascara sets give a couple full sizes in it OR give a voucher for a "free" full size mascara that you can turn in once you know which you like best. This isn't as good of a value without that deal, but I like the variety included in this set and am happy I bought it."
