Our Phyto-Retinol Sleep Serum is microbiome friendly and non-irritating, meaning it can be paired, and used with Vitamin C, exfoliants and other skincare products that one typically needs to avoid when using traditional retinol. We recommend using Chebula Serum in the morning, and Phyto-Retinol Sleep Serum in the evening.

Why are pro-vitamin a carotenoids safe for topical use in daytime when retinol isn’t? Would love to know!
Pro-vitamin A carotenoids, like beta-carotene, are safe for daytime use because they act as antioxidants, helping protect the skin from UV damage rather than making it more sensitive. They also convert slowly into retinoic acid, making them gentler and less irritating. On the other hand, retinol increases photosensitivity, breaks down in sunlight, and can lead to skin damage if used during the day. That’s why it’s recommended for nighttime use only.
Should you use this moisturizer on top of the phyto-retinol sleep serum?
