Athlete, professional tennis player, and serial entrepreneur Venus Williams created EleVen by Venus Williams to give women quality activewear that allowed them to feel great and perform better. As a natural extension of this endeavor, she was compelled to create a suncare collection she could count on to protect her daily. She partnered with Credo to formulate clean mineral sunscreens for all skin types and shades.
Q: What inspired you to start your clean beauty brand?
A: My passion for overall wellness. I spend so much time outside on the court and have learned it’s pivotal we take care of our skin. As a huge proponent for skin protection, it made sense for me to expand EleVen into beauty. I want to give women high-quality, effective products that they can rely on every single day to protect against the sun’s harmful rays. 
Q: What does clean beauty mean to you?
A: To me, clean beauty is not having to worry about the products you’re putting on your body. It’s trusting that they have the proper ingredients to protect and nourish. I am extremely cognizant of what I put on my body and take great care when choosing products.
Q: What are your favorite wellness products?
A: The EleVen by Venus Unrivaled Sun Serum SPF 40 is the most essential part of my daily routine before I leave the house every morning!
I’m really loving the Ranavat Flawless Veil Resurfacing Saffron Masque, especially with all the traveling I’ve been doing it’s such a great way to unwind and revive my skin before or after a trip.
Another great product for traveling are the Clean Circle Bamboo Charcoal Makeup Remover Pads. I pack them in my suitcase and don’t even have to worry about remembering makeup remover since you just add water!
A product I recently discovered is the Bloomeffects Tulip Dew Cream; it leaves my face dewy and bright!
I’m currently obsessed with the Wildling Empress Stone Gua Sha – I love the skin lifting and firming benefits but the face massage also feels amazing!
Q: What is your typical morning routine?
A: The first thing I do in the morning is cleanse and tone my face with natural products; it wakes me up and is so refreshing! Next, I lather on the serums, usually vitamin C, hyaluronic and retinol. After that, I apply rose oil and EleVen by Venus Unrivaled Sun Serum and I’m ready for the day!
Q: What is the one piece of advice you would give to Black entrepreneurs?
A: The one thing I always say is not to let fear take over – once fear sets in, you give up the ability to be your best. If you want something, you’ve got to throw everything behind it, no matter how much that might scare you.
Q: If you had to choose one… What would be your desert island product?
