Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the best clean facial cleanser?
The “best” clean facial cleanser really depends on your skin type and what you want your cleanser to do. A few Credo Beauty favorites: Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser - gentle exfoliation with apricot microspheres, great for dull skin. Ursa Major Fantastic Face Wash - a refreshing gel with aloe and sugar-derived surfactants, perfect if you like that “clean but not stripped” feel. Marie Veronique Pure + E.O. Free Oil Cleanser - fragrance-free and ideal for sensitive or reactive skin.
  • What cleanser do dermatologists recommend?
Many dermatologists recommend gentle, pH-balanced cleansers that support your skin barrier instead of stripping it. You’ll see plenty of derm-approved ingredients in Credo Beauty cleansers: niacinamide, glycerin, green tea, ceramides... Our products skip harsh sulfates and drying alcohols, which are often the culprits behind that tight, squeaky feeling post-wash.
  • Are clean cleansers good for sensitive or reactive skin?
Yes. In fact, many people with sensitive skin seek out cleansers from us because they’re formulated without parabens, harsh surfactants and other potentially harmful ingredients. Look for options labeled fragrance-free or dermatologist-tested. Cream and oil-based cleansers are especially gentle and can help reduce redness or irritation.
  • What’s the difference between foaming and non-foaming cleansers?
Foaming cleansers use mild surfactants to create lather, which can feel refreshing and help cut through oil. Non-foaming cleansers (like milks or balms) tend to be richer and more hydrating. Neither is “better” - it’s about preference and skin type. Oily or acne-prone skin may enjoy a foaming gel, while dry or sensitive skin often prefers a creamy or oil-based formula.
  • What ingredients are commonly avoided in clean cleansers?
At Credo Beauty, our cleansers never contain SLS/SLES (harsh sulfates that strip the skin), parabens (linked to health concerns) or formaldehyde-releasers (a big no). In fact, we avoid over 2,700 potentially harmful ingredients, as per The Credo Clean Standard™. Instead, our cleansers use gentle, biodegradable surfactants (like coco-glucoside), soothing botanicals, and nourishing oils.
