Formulated and manufactured in-house, Marie Veronique has redefined what a sunscreen can do. ColorFree is a non-nano zinc-oxide-only sunscreen designed to address all forms of light-induced skin damage, with no white cast, no greasy finish and the intent to improve, correct, and repair. It provides safe, broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection while delivering ingredients that improve skin health, visibly calm, even skin tone, and smooth texture. Unlike traditional sunscreens that only shield against UV radiation, ColorFree also protects from High-Energy Visible (HEV) light, aka blue light, emitted by screens, cell phones, and indoor lighting. At night, it continues to work and supports the skin’s natural repair mechanisms. Reducing damage such as cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers (CPDs), DNA lesions formed during UV exposure that continue to harm skin cells long after sun exposure.

This innovative formula is rich in emollient ingredients to increase hydration and prevent moisture loss. Key ingredients

Zinc oxide: (17%) is a physical (mineral) sunscreen agent that provides broad-spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays.

Carnosine: a dipeptide, has antioxidant properties with regard to the peroxyl radical which help prevent photoaging. It also demonstrates a degree of UVB photoprotection when applied.

Turmeric (Curcuma Longa) & Ginger (Zingiber Officinale): Both have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and skin-brightening properties, which may provide additional skin benefits like calming redness or promoting even skin tone.

What is an undertone?

An undertone is the color beneath the surface of your skin, which never changes (even with a tan). There are three types of undertones:

Pink/Cool

I see red or pink undertones around the perimeter of my face and neck.
My skin burns easily, but barely tans.
My skin looks better in silver jewelry than gold.

Neutral

I see both pink and yellow undertones around the perimeter of my face and neck.
My skin sometimes burns and sometimes tans.
My skin looks good in both gold and silver jewelry.

Yellow/Warm

I see yellow or golden undertones around the perimeter of my face and neck.
My skin rarely burns, but tans easily.
My skin looks better in gold jewelry than silver.

Usage

Apply liberally to face/neck/chest 15 minutes before sun exposure. Blend evenly into skin (note: may take 1-2 minutes to absorb / become colorless). For best application, layer over AM serum(s) + oil. • Reapply at least every 2 hours. Use a water-resistant sunscreen if swimming or sweating.Children under 6 months: consult a physician. •

So greasy I had to return it!

"I loved the ingredients in this sunscreen and was so excited to try it. But it’s the greasiest formula I’ve ever worn!! It remained greasy, oily and heavy on my skin and never “dried down”. Leave it to Marie and Kristina to figure this out

"I've been a devotee of Marie Veronqiue and Kristina Holey's products for some time now (and will gush about them to anyone who asks or will listen) but, of course, not everything of theirs agrees or works with my skin; in particular, I have been unable to use their Everyday Coverage spf because as a male with beard stubble it leaves a very obvious cakey residue regardless of how I apply it. You can imagine my surprise and delight to discover this spf launch, which I immediately ordered and have been using now for months (and even get on subscription every 8 weeks). What can I say? Much in the way they cracked retinol for folks like me who had historically been unable to use retinol -- I'm talking about the remarkable Night Emulsion, a complete game changer -- they've now come up with a truly remarkable non-nano zinc spf. The texture is milky, but not runny, has a really nice subtle scent, and a little goes a long way: a tiny puddle in my palm, I rub my hands against each other, coat my fingers and then glide across my face, and within seconds, it's completely asborbed, no color cast at all and, most amazingly, nothing caked into my beard stubble. It also leaves the skin with a noticeable glow without being oily. It's also loaded with skin longevity ingredients and, on warmer days, I can skip a moisturizer and just use this. As with most MV/KH products, I cannot recommend this more enthusiastically!"

Severe allergic reaction

"This product caused me a severe allergic reaction. I love MV products and have never had an issue. I had to go to 10+ doctors appts to figure out what was wrong and it was something that was in this product. Not sure if the product was contaminated or what."

Nice but not perfect

"I like Marie Veronique products a lot and was excited when this came out because I don’t like tinted moisturizer with SPF. This is still a bit tacky feeling and definitely leaves a white cast."

No white cast, doesn’t pill

"This sunscreen leaves no white cast on my medium Caucasian skin. It does leave a shine, but I usually use it under tinted moisturizer, so the shine is not an issue in this case. It doesn’t pill under the makeup (unlike some other sunscreens I use) which is a plus. I like that it comes in a metal tube, another plus. Highly recommend!"

"Unfortunately I had a reaction to this. No pain, but bright red where it was applied. I didn’t notice until I looked in the mirror mid day. I consistently have issues with MV products. Love the messaging but does not mesh with my sensitive rosacea prone skin."

Phenomenal

"This sunscreen does exactly what it says, which gives a color free option that is safe and clinically proven to be effective as an SPF (along with other benefits). I have heard a very small number of people say it still leaves a slight white cast, but I have not had that problem at all - in fact I have put the sunscreen on 1/2 of my face (trying it on both sides separately) to see if I can notice a difference, and I cannot. The only things is that it can have a little shine to it, which may be why some feel there is still a tiny bit of a cast. My skin actually looks better with this on than without it, and I love that it is not tinted so that I can have a more natural look. I have already bought my second tube of it. Love it."

Severe allergic reaction

"I normally love all of her products but I’m not sure if I received a contaminated product , but I applied this sunscreen and within 3 hours my skin was red , blistering , and unbearably itchy. This is day 3 and the swelling has gone down but I’m at the very flakey and peeling stage. Pretty positive that this sunscreen gave me 1st degree burn. It was such a horrible experience. Do not buy if you have sensitive skin. My sister also went through the same experience with this product."

Really nice

"This is a really nice sunscreen. It starts a hint thick but quickly melts into skin. There is no white cast that I can see on my light skin. It mattifies a bit and doesn’t add a ton of moisture. It’s not shiny and it plays nicely under makeup. If someone wants a solid sunscreen that doesn’t feel heavy, plays well with other skincare, and doesn’t act like a glowy layer, this is ideal."
