What does 'radical fragrance transparency' mean?
In 2019, we introduced our groundbreaking radical Fragrance Transparency Policy. This means that all the brands we work with are required to categorize the source of their fragrances for every product (the categories include: Fragrance Free, Essential Oils, Certified Organic, Natural, Naturally-Derived and Synthetic). We also continuously push and challenge our brand partners to fully disclose all fragrance ingredients, which is unprecedented–not just in the conventional beauty industry, but also in clean beauty. -
How does radical fragrance transparency benefit consumers?
At the very least, you should know the origin of your fragrance. Many of our customers seek unscented products or scents derived solely from natural sources. Now, only at Credo Beauty, you can effortlessly access this information for every product. This can be especially beneficial for those with fragrance sensitivities or allergies, and can also help consumers make more informed choices about the products they are putting on their bodies. -
Are all fragrance brands adopting radical transparency?
Unfortunately, no. It's not a legal requirement for beauty and fragrance brands to fully disclose the individual fragrance elements in their products, as the 'fragrance blend' they use is considered to be proprietary information. At Credo Beauty, we prioritize customer's safety and we believe you have a right to know what's in the products you use. This is why we're leading the change towards radical fragrance transparency. The good news is that all 130+ brands we work with have pledged to be transparent about the ingredients in their products, including fragrances. This means you can shop with confidence knowing exactly what's in your favorite scent. -
How does radical transparency impact sustainability in the fragrance industry?
By disclosing the exact ingredient list for each product, companies are held accountable for their sourcing and production processes. This encourages them to use more sustainable and ethically sourced ingredients, as well as adopting environmentally-friendly practices throughout their supply chain. Certain fragrances or ingredients are more detrimental to the environment than others, so, by knowing exactly what's in a product, consumers can make informed choices and support fragrance companies that align with their values. -
Can consumers trust the information provided through radical fragrance transparency?
At Credo Beauty, we work closely with our brands to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the information provided. We closely vet each beauty product and ensure they not only adhere to our radical Fragrance Transparency Policy, but also do not contain any of the 2700+ potentially harmful ingredients (to human health and/or the environment) we itemized on our Dirty List. This ensures you get the very best in clean fragrance.
