What is an undertone?

An undertone is the color beneath the surface of your skin, which never changes (even with a tan). There are three types of undertones:

Pink/Cool

I see red or pink undertones around the perimeter of my face and neck.
My skin burns easily, but barely tans.
My skin looks better in silver jewelry than gold.

Neutral

I see both pink and yellow undertones around the perimeter of my face and neck.
My skin sometimes burns and sometimes tans.
My skin looks good in both gold and silver jewelry.

Yellow/Warm

I see yellow or golden undertones around the perimeter of my face and neck.
My skin rarely burns, but tans easily.

Usage

Shake well. Spray the stream directly onto damp or dry hair and work through with fingers or a detangling tool. Use daily or as needed to prime or refresh.
PRO TIP: For protective styles, spray onto hands and smooth over edges and braids, or scrunch through curls for a refresh.

Hannah Diop is the founder and CEO of Sienna Naturals. To create Sienna Naturals, Hannah harnessed the values of her upbringing and skills of her business background. She spent weekends researching ingredients found in nature and proven by science to improve wellness outcomes for textured hair and scalp. Working alongside cosmetic chemists, she made, tweaked and tested product formulations until a line of clean products that significantly outperform competitors was born. Hannah Diop, holds an MBA from Wharton and was a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company where she worked for clients in big box retail and OTC Pharmaceuticals.  Hannah is also a mother of two young children and is proud to lead a company that is more than 80% BIPOC and woman-led. She lives in Los Angeles, CA.

"I like that it has an easy left to right stopper directly on the spray head, in case you’re traveling. The spray streams out exactly as shown in the picture, so it’s less like a mist and more like a direct, specific spray onto an area or curl. You’ll have to use quite a few sprays and rapid movement to get good coverage."

"Love this product. Truly refreshes my hair. I dampen my hair and add a couple squirts in my hand and distribute it through my hair and it looks like I’ve just washed it, my hair looks shiny and soft and the curls are juicy. I also love that it doesn’t leave a heavy fragrance in my hair, it’s pretty much sent free. For reference I’m Eurasian."

It's decent but no miracle worker

"The application of this product is odd and not user friendly. It comes out in a thin stream instead of a spray. The product itself is very thin, with a light scent. I find that it moisturizes my hair but leaves it a bit weighed down and sticky and it doesn't totally get rid of my frizz. I do think it helps revive my curls a bit and makes my hair a little shinier. All in all, this curl refresher is ok. The company is heading in the right direction but isn't quite there yet. I applaud them though for even making such a product; clean curl refreshers are difficult to find."

Gooey Feeling, Itchy and Rancid Smelling Scalp After One Use

"Awful! If I could give it zero stars it would be far more honest. I tried using it in every combination possible, using a little, then watering it down. I combined it separately but alongside the other recommended products. I tried it ALONE. Always with the same results: a sticky/gooey feeling in my hair and by the end of the day a very itchy scalp and a rancid smell emanating from my scalp! I’ve never experienced this before. I contacted Customer Service and I was met with that attitude of ‘was it something you did wrong, like the “cocktail” you mixed’. When THEY chose the products I should be using! How could my combining them be the problem?! I will NEVER use this product again. They don’t make it easy to return products that you’re dissatisfied with. They make you pay to return them which is costly and means they DO NOT stand by their products. Shame on them!"
